Social work is an applied science of helping people to achieve an effective level of psychosocial functioning and effecting social change to enhance the wellbeing of all people.

According to W.A.Finland-Social work is a professional services based upon scientific knowledge and skill in human relations, which assists individuals alone or in groups to obtain social and personal satisfaction and independence.

Scope of social welfare in Bangladesh:
1. Facilities making to fill-up the fundamental rights.
2. Family planning.
3. Prevention and mitigation the problems.
4. Research activities.
5. Poor and lower class empowerment.
